A late winter snow has chilled the surroundings, so I decided I needed to give the kitchen a quick warm up. Making applesauce fit the bill nicely.
I've mentioned in the past my family's history of picking apples in the fall. So many apples are picked, that we're still using them up by the time spring arrives.
This year is no different, so I quickly gathered four apples; peeled, cut and sliced them; then put them into a pan with some water, sugar and a little cinnamon. After bringing the pan to a boil, the sauce was allowed to simmer for a while — maybe a half hour or so — with occasional use of a potato masher to smooth out the lumps.
Now there's fresh applesauce in the refrigerator, and a warmed up, pleasantly fragrant kitchen to boot!
