I'm beginning to harvest blackberries from the garden.
Earlier this year, I was quite dubious about getting much of a harvest due to the severity of the winter. Although I did, indeed, lose a significant number of fruit-bearing canes for the second year in a row, enough survived to provide at least a paltry yield.
But the wet spring and early summer has allowed the plants to excel in quality despite lacking in quantity.
As you can see in this photo, I'm able to harvest only a handful a day, which I'm storing in the refrigerator until I get enough to do something significant. But from the few I've popped into my mouth, the berries are exceptionally good.
Perhaps next year we'll get quality and quantity.
