Earlier this month, I wondered whether the variety of tomato named Fourth of July — a variety I have planted, rather tardily, for several years — might finally live up to its name and allow me to harvest a ripe tomato before 4 July.
Well, as this photo demonstrates, the answer is yes.
Alas, it may be a while before I harvest another tomato. It seems the critter has taken a shine to green tomatoes, and the current schemes are proving ineffective at deterring him. But hopefully we'll get some defenses in place soon to allow a further tomato harvest.
P.S. The Velour filet beans I blogged about last Friday proved quite delicious, and I already have another harvest ready to cook up.
