Our friends at Fordham University's Center for Medieval Studies are seeking submissions for their 2016 medieval studies conference, on a topic near and dear to those us who work on manuscripts: "Manuscript as Medium."
The conference will be held the weekend of 5-6 March, and it usually takes place at the university's Lincoln Center campus on the Upper West Side of Manhattan (though the message I received didn't confirm a location).
Abstracts of 20-minute papers can be on any topic related to "manuscripts and their physicality," including (but not limited to) manuscript production; illumination; scriptoria; sacred texts within and across Christian, Jewish and Muslim contexts; and the hybrid manuscript-printed codex of the incunabula period. Abstracts are due 15 September.
Organizers also seek "flash" papers of 5 minutes in length on a focused visual presentation for a "flash" session.
