Dr. Katell Berthelot of the Centre Paul-Albert Février, CNRS, is looking to hire into a 3-year postdoc for the European Research Council project "Re-thinking Judaism's Encounter with the Roman Empire: Rome's Political and Religious Challenge to Israel and its Impact on Judaism (2nd Century BCE - 7th Century CE)".
The successful candidate, who must have the Ph.D. by the end of June, will have a background in early Christianity, must have good communication skills in English and should be able to translate ancient sources into English.
The position is based at the Centre Paul-Albert Février at the University of Aix-Marseille in Aix-en-Provence, though "under certain conditions, residence in Aix-en-Provence may not be mandatory." (I personally wouldn't complain a whole lot about having to spend three years in Provence.)
Applications, which are due 15 March, must include a CV, one or two published articles or dissertation chapters, a copy of the Ph.D. diploma or certification from the university that the dissertation has been successfully defended, and the e-mail addresses of two references. Interviews will take place via Skype.
The post begins 1 September, and for more information, contact Dr. Berthelot via e-mail at katell.b@free.fr or berthelot@mmsh.univ-aix.fr.
