Texts and Contexts conference
Ohio State's
Center for Epigraphical and Palaeographical Studies, of which I am a permanent fellow, hosts an annual conference on manuscript studies each fall.
This year's
Texts and Contexts conference starts in two weeks. The conference has a nice mix of papers discussing what people read in the Middle Ages, and how they read them. Our plenary speaker this year is Keith Busby of the University of Wisconsin, who is an expert on the
medieval literary genre of romance — which includes the tales dealing with King Arthur.
Those in the central Ohio area on October 31 and November 1 may want to stop by and listen to some of the talks. All sessions will be held in the basement of Ohio State's
Science and Engineering Library.
